Volunteering with Clubs

We depend on people like you to help us support the youth in our community.  Background checks are a legal requirement that ensure member safety, and must be completed prior to volunteer placement. We encourage you to connect with one of our Clubs to find out what volunteer opportunities they have and where your time can make the biggest impact. Tours and explanations of program areas will assist you in making a decision on how you would like to help.

Some volunteer opportunities which may be of interest to you include:

  • Afterschool Games Room and Gym Activities (Billiards, foosball, ping pong, board games, basketball, soccer, weightlifting, karate, active games)
Volunteer coaches and adults are often needed to teach sportsmanship and skills to youth in our games rooms and gymnasiums. Having additional adults in the games room means that our members are surrounded with positive role models. Providing one-on-one mentorship between adults and youth members assists kids in making positive decisions and helps our youth formulate good relationships that promote the healthy development of youth.
  • Coaching
Flag football, baseball, softball, basketball, volleyball, soccer, martial arts, wrestling, boxing, track
Coaching takes a special person who genuinely cares about youth and who can promote teamwork and sportsmanship while offering a feel for competition and at the same time teach skill development  and an understanding of the sport.
  • Education Center and Computers
Homework assistance, tutoring, storytelling, creative writing, Web design, Internet surfing, tech support, supervision, newspaper writing
Today, for many reasons it is often very difficult for parents to take the time out of their day to help their child with homework. Every day, over 75 kids come to the Club needing homework help and attention. Volunteers are often needed to give each student the attention they need to continue to learn and grow educationally. Adult tutors are also needed to meet with youth to help build their skills in a particular area.
  • Cultural Education (Cooking, art, dance, magic, outdoor and environmental education, music, drama)
Every person who volunteers brings special skills and interest to the club. Whether it’s dancing, music, art, a special hobby or anything else they enjoy or if it is a one-time demonstration or weekly classes—you choose the topic and the format! At the club new adventures are always welcome and your hobby might be just what some kid needs to keep him or her on the right path to be successful.
  • Maintenance (Construction, painting, cleaning, grounds keeping, landscaping, van repair)
Our two Clubs are each used by over 100 kids a day which leads to extensive hard use of our equipment and facilities.  Volunteers with an interest in this area or with the needed skills can help us save funds which can be better better spent on providing activities for youth.
  • Fundraising (Special events, board member, Alumni)
Volunteers in this area work on policy making, special events and fundraising for the Clubs.
